Mild Headache, Aches and Pains

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) regular or extra strength

Call if severe or persistent headaches.

Nasal Congestion, Sinusitis, Allergies / Cold Symptoms

Sudafed, Ocean Nasal Spray ,Benadryl, Mucinex or MucInex DM, Clartin, Zrytec

Call if no improvement in 2-3 days or condition worsens Call if fever >101

Cough

Robitussin( plain no alcohol)or Robitussin DM

Persistent cough- call office

Sore Throat, Minor Irritation

Throat Lozenges, Chloroseptic, salt water gargles

Severe or persistent sore throat- call office

Mild Rashes / Allergies

Calamine Lotion, baking soda baths, corn starch, Aveeno Lotion/bath, Benadryl

Call if no relief with 3-4 days

Diarrhea

Kaopectate, Imodium, Clear Liquids for 24 hours then BRAT diet Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast, Tea

More 2 days and running fever or severe diarrhea or blood call office

Fever

Tylenol (Acetaminophen regular or extra strength)

Call if fever persist or over 101

Constipation

Metamucil, Colace, Miralax, Milk of Magnesia , increase fiber and fluids. Exercise

Avoid severe straining

Hemorrhoids

Tucks Pads, Anusol, Sitz Baths 3 x daily

Witch Hazel pads

Call bleeding or severe pain

Heartburn / Indigestion

Tums, Maalox, Mylanta, decrease caffeine and chocolate, do not recline until 2 hours after eating

If no relief call office

Nausea

Vitamin B6 ( 50mg one time daily) or 25mg 3 X per day Ginger Tea, Peppermint or Ginger candy( eat every 2 hours), Emetrol, Meclizine

If you experience persistent vomiting, decrease in weight, decrease in urine output call office
